Live music lives.
In an age where bands like Simple Plan, Jonas Brothers and a whole slew of similar bands rule the airwaves, good live performers are getting far and few. But fear not, for there is hope yet.
1. Muse
Hysteria - Muse
One of the few bands that can do it better live than on record, which is saying a lot, especially if you know how good they are on record. Nice use of effects/distortion on the bass, too, particularly on this song. They sold out two nights at Wembley Stadium. That has to mean something, right?
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers
Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Great band, with a great bassist to match. Again, better than on record. Are you seeing a pattern here? Also, that little jamming bit in beginning is spontaneous (i.e. unrehearsed). Awesome, huh?
3. Switchfoot
Awakening - Switchfoot
Woo, Switchfoot! The best rock concert I've been for (or indeed the only rock concert I bothered going for). And if you'll notice, that video of them up there is their performance right here in KL.
4. Avenged Sevenfold
Bat Country - Avenged Sevenfold
Like it or loathe it, they're actually good live. I'm not a huge fan, but they play well, have a rhythm guitarists that puts most lead guitarists to shame and do really, really good guitar solos.
Well, that's a rather depressingly short list, but it's all I can think of off the top of my head. Go forth and listen!

The Hendrix Experience.
I never knew exactly how good Jimi Hendrix was; Then I saw him do a guitar solo with his teeth.

I'd shove this in your face, but then I'd have to wash my hands.
Turn your attention, if you please, to the two fine gentlemen in the centre. Now focus your attention on the somewhat less fine of the two; The one of the left. Questions like 'Can you not stand straight and face the camera for your class photo?', 'Are you $*%&@ing serious!?' and 'Does your hair glint in the sunlight and go "shiiiii-iiing" before you do epic battle with large robots?' swim through my head.
"But Daniel!" I hear your say, because I have terribly good hearing, "Aren't you being needlessly mean? Why judge a book by its cover?". Well, I've met this book, and he's every bit a douchebag as he tries so hard to make himself appear.

Q.E.D. and all that.
Being powerful is like being a woman; If you have to tell people you are, you aren't.

The Big Picture.
If sooner or later we're all just going to die, why do we spend years learning about permutations and quadratic equations?
